We invite you to join the SPMRC club!
If you are on this page of our site and you are not already a club member, we are glad that you are thinking about joining our group. Our club has a lot to offer its members - from new pilots just starting out to seasoned flyers - we have something for every level and style of flying. We offer a fun, friendly and safe environment where you can enjoy the hobby of radio controlled flight.
Our club field is located in Ham Lake, MN off of Lexington Avenue and 136th Lane. We boast a surfaced runway, large pit area, gathering shelter and other great field amenities. Well attended monthly themed Fun-Fly events are scheduled throughout the year. A list of events can be found in the site Forum under Upcoming Events.
The core of the club is our members – they cover a very wide range of interests in flying from gas, glow and electric and an even bigger range in the airplanes and helicopters they chose to fly. We have novice flyers an well as seasoned pilots. We have members that can help you learn to fly or check out your model before you fly it for the first time.
Monthly member meetings are held at the club’s field in the summertime and at the EAA building at the Anoka County Airport (Janes Field in Blaine, MN) the remaining months. They are a great way to get introduced to the club, its members and what we are all about. We meet every 2nd Wednesday at 7:00 pm and our meetings are open to members and visitors. The meetings are semi-formal, as some club business is necessary, with lots of radio control talk, prize raffles and project show-and-tell. If you are interested in becoming a member we would like to invite you to come join us at one of our club meetings.
If you have already made up your mind about joining out club you can download and print out an application located on this page. Feel free to bring it to a club meeting or mail it to the address listed on the application. The 2013 dues are $60 per year for individual members (some exceptions apply). Membership to the club is welcomed for flying and non-flying members. Members who wish to fly are also required to hold an Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) membership. The AMA membership for flying is required because the club is AMA sanctioned. AMA membership can be purchased on their website at www.modelaircraft.org or by calling (800) 435-9262.
